Ofsted and SIAMS Reports

Ofsted

Surrey Hills All Saints primary school was inspected by OFSTED on 21st and 22nd of March 2023. We thank everyone who supported the whole school team for their contribution as part of the inspection process and those that helped us prepare in that week. I, and all my colleagues, really appreciated that the school community was there with us and for us, during what can be a stressful time.

I am delighted to share a copy of the OFSTED report below. This can also be found on the Ofsted platform.

The inspection team were highly professional and dedicated to supporting us to give an accurate reflection of the current position of the school. As you will see the report sets out where we are Outstanding, where we are Good and where we Require Improvement. Each of these assessments matches our own view of our progress on our improvement journey and it is truly heartening to see that the areas that the school team have focused on have now been recognised as strengths delivering impact for the children of our school. After all, that is what we are here to do.

As Headteacher, I am pleased with many positives that have been recognised. I am pleased by the progress made with all the support of parents, staff, the community and critically the children since its previous full inspection in 2017. In under 2 years we have identified and delivered on the opportunity to improve outcomes by bringing all our children onto one site. The inspection assessment of our early years provision obviously reflects that change and the investment made by the teaching team and the Good Shepherd Trust. I am sure that you will join me in thanking them for that effort.

The inspectors told us that the school is ‘warm, safe and inviting and is set up for a sustainable future’. This matches well our school vision and the set of values we all live and breathe every day, in every way. Indeed, OFSTED recognise that ‘Pupils enjoy attending this friendly school and live by its values to make it a positive place to learn.’

Equally critical, the inspectors agree with us that our core subjects of Maths and Reading are effective in their delivery and have impact which prepares the children for next steps in these, the most important, areas of the curriculum.

Our safeguarding is effective as well.

Our school development plan supports the inspectors’ view that our next steps include developing our foundation subjects – such as science, geography, history, music and art. This will ensure that we consistently set out what we intend pupils to learn and in what order, and that we follow this planning closely, checking how well pupils have learned and remembered essential content.

In turn, this will also directly support and have enormous positive impact on the learning for our children with special educational needs and disabilities which is the second area we are looking to improve, to enable them to achieve consistently well.

We will also continue to work diligently with you on pupil attendance and with a number of communicable illnesses now receding this is improving on a weekly basis. We strongly believe that only by being in school consistently can children reach their full potential.

This inspection marks a milestone in our journey so that our school thrives in its delivery for the children of our community and I, with the support of the Local Committee and the Good Shepherd Trust, am committed to taking us beyond consistently good and to building on our Outstanding Early Years, term by term.

With the continued hard work and support of the Trust and all stakeholders this is achievable. I thank all stakeholders for their support and kindness shown during the inspection, it really was appreciated by us all.

Kind regards,

Simon Coles
